PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conveying device capable of more excellently cleaning a belt used for conveying and to provide an image forming apparatus provided with such a conveying device. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 10 has: a conveying belt 46 provided with a projecting portion 86 on the rear side thereof; a support roll 44 which supports the conveying belt 46 from its rear surface and is provided with a recessed portion 72 engaged with the projecting portion 86; a cleaning blade 38 coming into contact with the surface of the part supported by the support roll 44, of the conveying belt 46, to clean the surface of the conveying belt 46; and an energizing member 80 energizing the part of the conveying belt 46 in which the projecting portion 86 is formed to the side of the cleaning blade 38.
