The invention concerns an illuminated display screen consisting of at least a light conductor such as a punctually treated or modified optical fibre for generating in each point of modification a lateral luminous discharge when the fibre is illuminated from one end called fibre source. The invention is globally characterised in that in that the number of modifications in a given surface is proportional to the brightness of said surface and to the number of modifications present on said fibre upstream relative to the direction of light propagation. Preferably, a grey level of said zone is defined by the surface of a spot (S1, S2, S3 ), of said zone having received, through a first mask or stencil, the modifications, while the density of the modifications of a marginal downstream part of a spot of an upstream zone is substantially less than the density of modifications in the marginal upstream part of a spot of a downstream zone immediately proximate to the conductor in the direction of light propagation in said conductor. In cases where the modifications have a constant topical density, the grey level can be determined by a second stencil whereof the orifices have an increasing surface in the direction of light propagation. The conductor itself can consist, either of a fabric, or an elongated plate made of a material having an optical fibre structure. The invention also concerns a method for making such a display screen.
|
