PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To limit peripheral velocity of a V-belt within a limitation value when operating an acceleration pedal in the condition wherein a clutch is disconnected, in regards to a continuously variable transmission provided with the clutch in an output shaft system. SOLUTION: When operating the acceleration pedal in the condition wherein the clutch is not synchronized, a target shifting ratio Ry is obtained on the basis of the real speed Vy and the real input engine speed Ny, and shift control is performed by using a value close to the target shifting ratio as a target value. When shift control is performed by using the target shifting ratio Ry obtained on the basis of the vehicle speed and the input engine speed as a target value, the shifting ratio can be shifted to a low side, and rise of the peripheral velocity of the V-belt wound around a driven pulley can be restricted to prevent the generation of excessive speed more than limitation.
