PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bidirectional switching circuit which enables its downsizing and cost reduction by doubling the constitution of an AC snubber circuit thereby simplifying the circuit constitution in the case of using bidirectional switches in parallel. SOLUTION: In the bidirectional switching circuit where a first pair of arms being constituted by connecting a semiconductor switch SW1 and a semiconductor switch SW2 in series and a second pair of arms being constituted by connecting a semiconductor switch SW3 and a semiconductor switch SW4 in series are connected in parallel and which is equipped with input-output terminals A and B, switching elements T1-T4 are controlled so that the current having flown in from the input-output terminal A may flow out of the other input-output terminal B via switching elements T2 and T3 and that the current having flown in from this input-output terminal B may flow out of the input-output terminal A via the switching elements T1, T4.
