OPTICAL SYMBOL, ARTICLE THEREWITH METHOD OF ATTACHING OPTICAL SYMBOL TO ARTICLE, AND METHOD OF DECODING OPTICAL SYMBOL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide codes utilizing optical symbols of high reading accuracy even when an article is easily distorted article or printing accuracy is low.

SOLUTION: Cells are linearly arranged, and specific data is indicated by the state of elements in the respective cells (whether they are colored or not). Particularly, a color to be put to each element is fixed, and two kinds of states with the color and without the color can be taken. Data is expressed depending on this state. A code system readable if the continuous and linear form (topology) of element arrangement is maintained can thereby be achieved.
