PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image blur correcting apparatus capable of controlling the movable range of a correction optical system (correction lens) for correcting image blur as an appropriate range by actually driving the correction optical system and setting a limit position of limiting the movable range of the correction optical system based on a relation between a control value showing the target position of the then correction optical system and a value showing the present position obtained by a position detecting means. SOLUTION: The value of a drive count showing the target position of the correction lens is changed by a CPU 110 for the image blur correcting apparatus, and also, the present position of the correction lens is read from a Hall element 64, and the movable range of the correction lens is limited within the extent of the control value where the output voltage of the Hall element 64 becomes nearly linear related to the value of the drive count.
