PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel battery system that can surely detect intrusion of oxygen gas into a cathode electrode while suppressing the manufacturing cost.SOLUTION: A fuel battery system 1 has a fuel battery stack 10 having a cathode electrode supplied with oxygen gas and an anode electrode supplied with hydrogen gas, a discharge element 84 for making discharge current flow from the cathode electrode of the fuel battery stack 10 to the anode electrode, a diode 85 which is connected between the cathode electrode and the discharge element 84, is turned off to cut off the discharge current until a stack voltage is equal to a predetermined voltage, and turns on to make the discharge current flow when the stack voltage becomes the predetermined voltage, a voltage sensor 16 for detecting the stack voltage, and a controller 64 for determining that oxygen gas exceeding a reference amount intrudes into the cathode electrode of the fuel battery stack when the voltage detected by the voltage sensor 16 reaches a predetermined voltage while the operation of the fuel battery stack 10 is stopped. The threshold voltage is not less than a lower limit voltage detectable by the voltage sensor and not more than a predetermined voltage.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
