PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water reservoir in which soil and sand or the like flowing in from an upstream can be removed simply. SOLUTION: The water reservoir 2 has a structure 3 installed so as to dam up water flowing in from an upstream and be submerged in the water reservoir 2, in which water is stored, and top-face opening sections having size, in which the filtration of water is permitted and the intrusion of soil and sand is prevented, in a top face 32 and water going-in-out permitting opening sections 34 being installed so as to be positioned in the surface of the submerged structure 3 and permitting the going-in-out of water are formed in the structure 3. Soil and sand 4 incapable of passing through the top-face opening sections 33 are left on the top face of the structure 3, and water passing through the top-face opening sections 33 is positioned internally in the structure 3 while the going-in-out of water is permitted through the water going-in-out permitting opening sections 34 and used as a part of the water storage of the water reservoir 3.
