<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate the number, by scanning persons present in a prescribed space portion by the combination of a wide-angle camera and a tracking camera and to create a comfortable space, by controlling living environment apparatuses, such as a lighting, an air conditioner or the like, based on the number. <P>SOLUTION: An image-monitoring apparatus, for calculating the number of the persons in each area in a pathway from the images of fixed cameras 2A, 2B and 2C, is provided with a controller 4 for controlling the wind amount (cooling and warming) of each air conditioner from their averages, detects a new image or motion, by comparing this time image of a frame memory 8 with the previous image stored in the memory, calculates the movement direction, determines to which side of the pathway it is moving by taking their average value, and optimally controls the air-conditioning apparatus, according to the movement direction and the number of the persons. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
