PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an animal chronic asthma medicine which inhibits the proliferation of airway smooth muscles, has airway smooth muscle-relaxing and bronchodilatating actions, and inhibits the secretion of inflammatory cytokine from airway epithelia. SOLUTION: This animal chronic asthma medicine contains a compound such as 16α-bromoandrost-5-en-17-one, 16α-bromo-5-androstan-17-one, 16α-fluoroandrost-5-en-17-one, 16α-fluoro-5-androstan-17-one, 16β-bromoandrost-5-en-17-one, 16β-bromo-5-androstan-17-one, 16β-fluoroandrost-5-en-17-one, or 16β-fluoro-5-androstan-17-one as an active ingredient.
