摘要 FIELD: chemistry. ^ SUBSTANCE: water-absorbing polymer particles are described, the polymer particles having average sphericity of at least 0.84, content of hydrophobic solvent of less than 0.005 wt % and permeability of at least 5ù10-7 cm3s/g and contain polyatomic cations. Also described is a method of obtaining said water-absorbing polymer particles by polymerising droplets of a monomer solution containing a) at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer having acid groups, b) at least one cross-linking agent, c) at least one initiator, d) water in the gas phase surrounding the droplets, characterised by that the monomer solution contains polyatomic cations and the polymer particles have average diameter of at least 150 mcm, wherein the number of polyatomic cations is selected such that neither clouding nor precipitation occurs in the monomer solution and, if needed, the process is carried out in the presence of a hydrophobic solvent.
