PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly efficiently perform an operation to fabricate a spline groove and at the same time, improve working environments and further facilitate the sorting of waste materials by combining a device for automatically conveying a long-size member and a device for separating a soft base material from another base material by cutting with a cutter and the like. SOLUTION: A long-size member as a heat insulating panel for a structure which consists of a synthetic resin foam and a wood or an inorganic base material is supplied in the longitudinal direction and is grooved by cutting the side face of the soft base material. In addition, hold-down rolls 2, 2' which hold down the long-size member are arranged on the upper parts of both ends of a drive roller conveyor 1 for conveying the long-size member, and saws 3, 3' with a pneumatic drive device for partly separating the soft base material of the long-size member from the other base material by cutting are arranged between the hold-down rolls 2, 2' in such a manner that the positions of the saws 3, 3' can be adjusted in the vertical and the forward/backward direction. Further, a router bit 4 with a T-shaped side cutter for cutting the soft base material after cutting is installed so that its position can be adjusted. A dust collecting hopper 5 is provided under a conveying means 1.
