An investigative system uses terahertz (THz) radiation which is focussed though lenses. Ellipsoidal and other geometry lenses may be used. The radiation may be transmitted to and reflected back from the target 63 through the primary focussing lens 53. Additional lenses 73, 75 may be used to direct the radiation onto the primary focussing lens and collect the reflected radiation. The primary focussing lens may be made in parts to allow the movement of one part to cause the radiation to scan the target. Optical fibres 65, 79 and lenses 69, 81 may carry pump and probe beams to the emitter 71 and receiver 77. |
