<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive device for an ultrasonic motor achieving high stopping position accuracy and excellent response in the stop control of the ultrasonic motor and of achieving the simplification of a circuit. <P>SOLUTION: In the drive device for an ultrasonic motor, two-phase driving alternating signal with a predetermined phase difference and a predetermined driving frequency is applied to an ultrasonic transducer 4 provided with a drive element abutting on a driven member so as to simultaneously generate longitudinal vibration and bending vibration on the ultrasonic transducer 4, thereby generating elliptical vibration. The driven member is driven by the ultrasonic transducer 4 by gaining driving force from the elliptical vibration. After driving of the driven member is stopped, a burst signal for suppressing the remaining vibration in the driven member is applied to the ultrasonic transducer 4 for burst driving. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
