RECEIVER AND CROSS-PHASE MODULATION MITIGATION METHOD THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To mitigate cross-phase modulation in a receiver without increasing unwanted noise.

SOLUTION: A receiver for coherent reception of a polarization multiplexed phase modulation optical signal includes extraction means for extracting common phase variation components from phase data of two polarization components separated by the coherent reception, and compensation means for changing the phase data of the two polarization components according to phase variation components within the two polarization components extracted by the extraction means.
