The present invention relates to a method for performing a function and an electronic device supporting the same, capable of recognizing a type of an event through a color outputted through a partial area of a display when a user is not or hardly able to recognize the whole display. The method for performing the function according to various embodiments of the present invention is performed in an electronic device including a display, and includes the operations of: recognizing whether the electronic device is in a designated state; detecting a designated event in the designated state; outputting, when the event occurs, a color associated with the event through at least a part of the display; detecting a designated user input, while outputting the color; and performing, when the user input occurs, a function associated with the user input. Various embodiments of the present disclosure are possible.
