A high-speed wireless packet communication method using multiple antennas and a terminal thereof are provided to use multiple reception antennas for using reception diversity in a mobile terminal, and to use the reception diversity according to quality of a receiving channel, thereby saving usage power of the mobile terminal. A mobile terminal receives control information from a base station(S202). A controller of the terminal measures quality of a channel which receives the control information(S204), and calculates a CQI(Channel Quality Information) value over certain feedback intervals(S206). The controller compares the calculated CQI value with a certain reference value to decide whether or not the CQI value is more than the reference value(S208). If so, the controller turns off a reception antenna chain having bad channel quality(S210). When a TTI(Transmission Time Interval) is set(S212), the controller transmits a data packet regarding a control signal which includes reception diversity information and channel information of CQI to the base station(S214). |
