PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery in which failure due to entry of an energy beam into a main body member is prevented and a lid member is appropriately arranged in an opening, and to provide a method of manufacturing the same.SOLUTION: A battery is constituted by storing an electrode body in a battery case. The battery case includes: a main body member 111 which has an opening 111h including an opening long side part and an opening short side part 111b; and a lid member 113 which has a lid long side part facing the opening long side part and a lid short side part 113b facing the opening short side part, and is welded with an energy beam LB. The opening short side part includes a short side inward protrusion part 111e which protrudes toward an inner side DJ over the entire opening short side part of the opening and supports the lid short side part of the lid member. The opening long side part includes a long side inward protrusion part 111d which protrudes toward the inner side DJ over the entire opening long side part and which is at a position lower in a depth direction DD of the main body member than the short side inward protrusion part and apart from the lid long side part of the lid member. |
