PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a housing container which accomplishes the feeding work or the like at a higher working efficiency without making a lid disturb the feeding of a material to be housed into the main body of the container or others and also enables the accurate opening or closing of the lid when the material held is discharged from the main body of the container upside down with its opening downward. SOLUTION: The container has a main body 2 for housing a material to be housed such as a powdery material or a granular material and a lid body 15 for sealing up the opening 5 provided on the top surface of the main body 2 of the container and an open/close part 6 which so supports the lid body 15 as to be slidable horizontally and moreover, oscillable about an oscillation shaft 17. The lid body 15 is made displaceable between three attitudes of a closed attitude of closing the opening 5, a slide open attitude of making the opening 5 open with its slide movement horizontally from the closed attitude, and an oscillation open attitude of the opening 5 opening with its oscillation in the direction of opening outward about the oscillation shaft 17 from the slide open attitude.
