PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starter 1 capable of reducing noise generated at a time of starting an engine by mitigating impact resulting from the collision of a pinion gear 8 against a rotating ring gear 25.SOLUTION: A starter 1 comprises: a pinion extrusion solenoid 5 for extruding a pinion moving body in a direction opposite to a motor; and a motor energization solenoid 6 opening or closing a motor contact, and an ECU 21 can individually, independently control actuation of both the pinion extrusion solenoid 5 and the motor energization solenoid 6. The pinion moving body is constituted by a clutch 7 and a pinion gear 8, and is disposed by the direct spline-fitting of the pinion gear 8 to an outer circumference of an inner tube 9 provided integrally with an inner part 7c of the clutch 7. A buffer member 12 formed of an elastic body such as rubber or elastomer is provided between the pinion gear 8 and the inner tube 9. This buffer member 12 functions to mitigate impact generated when the pinion gear 8 collides against a ring gear 25.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
