[Problem] To provide a wavelength conversion member having a wavelength conversion layer including quantum dots for fluorescing in response to irradiation by excitation light, wherein the intensity of light emission is not prone to decrease, and the wavelength conversion member is highly durable, and to provide a highly durable backlight unit and liquid crystal display device in which the intensity of light emission is not prone to decrease. [Solution] A wavelength conversion member (1D) is provided with a wavelength conversion layer (30) including at least one type of quantum dots (30A, 30B) for being excited by excitation light and fluorescing, at least one interposed layer (40) formed adjacent to the wavelength conversion layer (30), and barrier layers (12, 22) formed on at least one side of the wavelength conversion layer (30), the wavelength conversion layer (30) and at least one interposed layer (40) containing at least one type of antioxidant.
