An actuator for an air conditioner is provided to reduce the size thereof by locating a light emitting section and a light receiving section in a same direction. An actuator for an air conditioner includes a worm screw(11), a worm wheel(12), a brush(20), and a sensor section(30). The worm screw is rotated by a drive motor. The worm wheel is rotated by the worm screw and is connected to a door rotating member of the air conditioner to open and close the door. The brush is engaged with a motor shaft of the drive motor. The sensor section detects the rotation amount of the brush. A lubrication preventing jaw divides the worm screw and the brush so that the lubrication component of the worm screw cannot flow toward the brush. The sensor section includes a light emitting section generating light and a light receiving section receiving the light of the light emitting section which is reflected by the reflection section of the brush.
