PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform one shot sequence and continuous shots sequence without setting a one shot mode or a continuous shot mode using a mode setting switch. SOLUTION: When one-step-stroke push of a shutter button with a two-step-stroke push type is performed (clock time t 21), a digital camera practices an AE process and an AF process. When the two-step-stroke push is performed (clock time t 23), an exposure of image-taking elements is started to output an image signal obtained by the exposure from the image-taking elements. Image data converted from the image signal are sequentially written in a built-in memory of the digital still camera (CCD output). At the time of completion of CCD output (clock time t 26), when the shutter button is under a two-step-stroke push condition, it is judged that the continuous shot mode is selected, the exposure and the CCD output are continued, whereas when being not under the two-step-stroke condition, it is judged that the one shot mode is selected.
