PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To monitor whether or not an obstacle or a maintenance person exists on a track when a car and a balancing weight operate at the inspection work of an elevator, and to automatically stop the car when there is a risk of contact.SOLUTION: According to this embodiment, an elevator monitoring device monitors the existence of an obstacle which causes a risk of the contact of a car 12 and a balancing weight 14 in a hoistway at the inspection work of an elevator. Cameras 21, 22 for imaging images at a front of the car in a traveling direction are arranged at an upper part and a bottom part of the car. The obstacle existing on a track of the car in the traveling direction is detected from the images which are imaged by the cameras 21, 22. When there is a possibility that the obstacle contacts with the car 12 if the car continues to travel, the car 12 is automatically stop by operation control means. |
