PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that in a conventional walking support system for a visually-impaired person, it is not always possible for a visually-impaired person to intuitively and easily recognize a distance to an obstacle ahead.SOLUTION: A sensing instrument 100 for a visually-impaired person includes: a cap-type body 110 mounted on the head of a human body; a distance measurement sensor 120 attached to the cap-type body 110 for measuring a distance to an obstacle ahead; a micro-computer 130 for executing control to cause a vibration motor 150 to issue a warning in which predetermined characteristics of vibration or sound change according to the distance to the obstacle based on the result of measurement performed by the distance measurement sensor 120.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
