<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polarization diversity technology by using one compact patch antenna usable on e.g. a portable terminal. <P>SOLUTION: The patch antenna having a feed line, a ground plate and a patch laminated in this order with insulators inserted between them comprises a diode the anode of which is connected to one end of the feed line and the cathode of which is grounded. The ground plate has two slots extending perpendicularly to each other with their centers located on the feed line. The length of the feed line from its one end to the center of one of the two slots is approximately equal to 1/2 of an operating wavelength, and the length of the feed line from its one end to the center of the other slot is approximately equal to 1/4 of the operating wavelength. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
