<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which saves on more power and prolongs the life of components. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 has a first power save mode for the lower power consumption of the apparatus 1 than a usual level, and a second power save mode for a lower power consumption of the apparatus than the power consumption of the first mode. Among component groups constituting the apparatus 1, a specified component group which may be cut from its power supply in the power save mode is divided into a first component group 76 composed of one or more components having a high priority of the power supply, and a second component group 78 composed of one or more components having a low priority of the power supply. The apparatus comprises a power save mode switching means 74 for controlling to cut the power supply from the components of the second component group 78 in the first power save mode, and to cut the power supply from the components of the first and second groups 76, 78 in the second power save mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
