PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector for achieving stable optical coupling. SOLUTION: A receptacle 110 stores a receptacle light guide body 116 in a state having play inside a housing 118. The receptacle light guide body 116 comprises a first engaging section having a first surface section 1165 abutting on a light element module 112 in an insertion state of a plug 130, and a second engaging section having a second surface section 1167 abutting on a ferrule 132. The light element module 112 has an engaging section having an engaging surface section 1127 abutting on the first surface section 1165 in the insertion state. The ferrule 132 has an engaging section having an engaging surface section 1329 abutting on the second surface section 1167 in the insertion state. In the insertion state, the ferrule 132 engages with the receptacle light guide body 116 and the receptacle light guide body 116 engages with the light element module 112, thereby positioning the receptacle light guide body 116 inside the housing 118 of the receptacle 110.
