PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooking unit which provides conveniency of successively displaying recipe in a display and of omitting time for taking out cooking books or an instruction manual, and thus allow a user to simply enjoy cooking. SOLUTION: The cooking unit comprises a memory for storing recipes of various kinds of dishes, and a control means for controlling cooking operation in accordance with the recipes. The unit is also provided with a designation operator member for designating one class from among a plurality of classes of the recipes, and a selection means for further selecting a given item from among the recipes of the class designated by the operator member. The control means carries out cooking operation on the basis of the given item which has been selected by the selection means.
