A method for preventing an engine stall of an automatic transmission is provided to improve an engine stall by releasing oil pressure of a turbine and performing a neutral control operation of a TCU(Transmission Control Unit). An ECU(Engine Control Unit) of a vehicle including an automatic transmission determines whether a panic braking condition is sensed in a fuel cut and speed-reducing connection region(S10). The panic braking condition is compared with a falling gradient of RPM(Revolution Per Minute)(S20). A turbine is released during a constant period through a neutral control operation of a TCU when the panic braking condition is equal to and less than the falling gradient of RPM(S30). A neutral control sustaining time is compared with a predetermined time(S40). The neutral control operation is released when the neutral control sustaining time exceeds the predetermined time(S50).
