PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device and its rotation control method which has achieved controlling rotation of an optical disk in a short time independently of a diameter of the optical disk when the optical disk is discharged forcibly from a case. SOLUTION: The device is provided with a tray housed in the case, a rotation drive means rotating the optical disk placed on the tray, a detecting means detecting the number of rotation of the optical disk, and a discharging means discharging forcibly the tray from the cased by the prescribed operation, when the tray is discharged forcibly from the case, the rotation drive means controls rotation of the optical disk until the number of rotations of the optical disk placed on the tray being in a discharge process becomes the prescribed value or less, when the number of rotation of the optical disk becomes the prescribed value or less, rotation control of the optical disk is stopped.
