A water treatment device 4, comprises a housing defining a filter chamber 48, and a filter body which contains filter media 50 and is disposed within the filter chamber, an annular passage 62 being defined between a cylindrical side wall of the housing and the filter body, the housing having an inlet 61 for water to be treated, disposed so as to create a circulating flow within the housing , a clean water outlet for treated water that has passed through the filter media, and an overflow outlet 72 for overflow water, the device further comprises a spraying device 80 situated above the filter media for spraying liquid in a direction towards the filter media. The spraying device 80 may, be provided in a lid 78, to receive treated water along a line 128, possibly with the addition of an anti-foaming agent. Advantageously operating of the spraying device serves to collapse any foam generated within the water treatment device 4. Treated water may be stored in a storage tank 24 for subsequent use in, for example, a toilet (WC) 28. |
