PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grating fabricating method and a grating fabricating apparatus for a multi-core optical fiber that enable a fiber grating to be easily fabricated in each core of a multi-core optical fiber.SOLUTION: A grating fabricating apparatus for a multi-core optical fiber comprises: an optical fiber support part that supports a multi-core optical fiber 10 having a plurality of cores 12 in a single cladding 11; a phase mask 30 being interference fringe generation means that generates interference fringes based on a short-wavelength laser beam in the multi-core optical fiber; and movement means that relatively changes a focal surface of the interference fringes and a position of each of the cores 12 so that each of the cores 12 of the multi-core optical fiber 10 coincides with the focal surface. The movement means is provided with rollers 20 being rotation means that rotates the multi-core optical fiber 10 supported on the support part, thus causing a grating 13 having the same period to be fabricated in each of the cores 12.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
