The present invention relates to methods of analyzing event data for decision making purposes of an enterprise. The present invention has particular but not exclusive application for enterprises such as businesses and organizations. In one aspect the present invention broadly relates in a method of processing events for real-time analysis of key processes of an enterprise. The method includes capturing data from each event and formatting the event data to a common format including the following information: date and time about the event, event source, event agent that collects the information, and optional fields that are particular to the type of event. The method further includes processing the formatted event data by applying rules to the event data; and the presentation of processed data to provide a meaningful operational analysis of the enterprise.
