The invention relates to a thermal power plant for the combined generation of thermal and mechanical power. Said plant comprises a steam generator (2), a condenser (10), a feeding water pump, and a prime mover (1) in the pressure difference between the steam generator (2) and the condenser (10). The prime mover is an axial piston motor (1), the interior (20) of which faces the piston rotor (12), is located behind the cylinder rotor (11), is connected to the steam generator (2), and is filled with a liquid phase of a working medium (25), preferably of the steam generator (2), said liquid phase being under working pressure. An inlet (29) and an outlet (30) are separately provided on the side of the cylinder rotor (11) facing away from the piston rotor (12), in the wall of the motor housing (21) that rests against the cylinder rotor (11), in the movement path of the cylinder ports (27). The inlet (29) is connected to the vapor phase of the steam generator (2) that is under working pressure, and the outlet (30) is connected to the vapor phase of the condenser (10) which is under normal or negative pressure.
