A press device (1) is provided with a slide (5), a crown (4), and a hydraulic drive unit (7). An upper die (12a) is attached to the bottom surface (5s) of the slide (5). The crown (4) is arranged above the slide (5) and supports the slide (5) such that it is possible to raise and lower the slide (5). The hydraulic drive unit (7) moves the slide (5) downward by hydraulic pressure and applies a molding load to a preform material (301) and a thermosetting resin. The hydraulic drive unit (7) comprises a hydraulic cylinder (271) and a transmission mechanism (272). The hydraulic cylinder (271) is arranged on the crown (4) and holds a piston rode (271c) that is movable in the horizontal direction. The transmission mechanism (272) comprises a booster mechanism that increases the power of the hydraulic cylinder (271) and transmits the result to the slide (5). The transmission mechanism (272) converts the horizontal movement of the piston rod (271c) into vertical movement and transmits the result to the slide (5).
