<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a balloon catheter capable of being smoothly inserted into a living body for examination and treatment so that a tissue can be smoothly separated. <P>SOLUTION: The catheter consists of a catheter body, a balloon disposed at the distal end of the catheter body to be inflated and deflated, and a coating tube coating the catheter body in such a way displaced in the axial direction. The coating tube can coat the deflated balloon in such a way that the balloon can be taken out of/inserted into the coating tube. The balloon is gradually exposed from the distal end side of a distal end opening of the coating tube, and the exposed part of the balloon can be inflated while the inflation of the part of the balloon inside the coating tube is inhibited by displacing the coating tube toward the proximal end side of the catheter body. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
