A vehicle speeding detection method and system, able to accurately and in all weathers detect whether vehicles along an entire road are speeding; the system comprises an electronic licence plate (202) attached onto a vehicle and used for sending an ultra-wideband pulse signal to at least three base stations (2041, 2042, 2043, 2044); at least three interconnected and synchronised base stations (2041, 2042, 2043, 2044) positioned on the road to be tested and used for receiving the ultra-wideband pulse signal sent by the electronic licence plate (202), and sending the timing of the reception of the ultra-wideband pulse signal to a positioning server (201); and a positioning server (201), used for positioning the vehicle to which the electronic licence plate (202) is attached on the basis of a positioning algorithm and the timing of the reception of the ultra-wideband pulse signal received by the at least three base stations (2041, 2042, 2043, 2044), and, on the basis of the positioning results and the speed limit on the road to be tested, determining whether the vehicle to which the electronic licence plate (202) is attached is speeding. The present system can monitor vehicle speed along an entire road, thereby achieving vehicle speed detection, has high positioning accuracy, and can accurately detect whether a vehicle is speeding, increasing the accuracy of detection. |
