<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely avoid a vehicle approaching from behind one's own vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: A control device 10 for a vehicle is provided with an approach detection means 1a detecting approach of the vehicle approaching from behind the own vehicle, and a vehicle velocity control means 1b performing restriction control of vehicle velocity so that vehicle velocity of the own vehicle becomes a set limit velocity or less. When approach of the vehicle behind is detected, the vehicle velocity control means 1b releases the restriction control desirably.
