PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide zinc borate which has a specified crystallite size and the remarkably reduced content of a sodium component. SOLUTION: The zinc borate has a chemical composition expressed by the following formula of 2ZnO.mB2 O3 .xH2 O; wherein, (m) is the number of 2.8 to 3.2; and (x) is the number of <=4. The product of the crystallite sizes obtained from the diffraction peaks of the face indexes of (020), (101) and (200) in the X-ray diffraction (Cu-Kα) is 200,000 nm<3> , and the crystallite size obtained from the diffraction peak of the face index (101) is 40.0 to <60 nm. The content of a sodium component measured by an atomic absorption spectrometry is <=100 ppm.
