PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that an air conditioner causing low noise and having a high reliability cannot be realized unless appropriate fan motor outputs (air volumes) are employed for the respective positions of louvers. SOLUTION: An air conditioner comprises a refrigeration cycle using a compressor 13, a fan 10 for sucking indoor air, sending the indoor air to heat exchangers 11 and 12, subjecting the air to heat exchange and blowing the air out of the air conditioner and a swingable louver 9. The air conditioner is further provided with a rotational speed detecting section 2 for detecting the rotational speed of a fan motor 1 for driving the fan 10; a rotational speed data storage section for storing, in advance, predetermined rotational speed data used for effecting control when the rotational speed of the fan motor is changed by a change in pressure loss in air duct; and a fan motor control section for judging whether the rotational speed of the fan motor 1 detected by the rotational speed detecting section is equal to the predetermined rotational speed or not, and controlling the output of the fan motor 1 to the predetermined output by reading the rotational data from the rotational speed data storage section when the detected rotational speed is increased or decreased.
