An identification tag applicator is provided, the applicator comprising a tag application mechanism including a mechanical linkage assembly (204e) connected to a pair of applicator jaws (204f,204g). A motor (203) enables power-assisted closure of the applicator jaws (204f,204g) via the mechanical linkage assembly (204e). A manually-operable actuator (212) activates the motor 203, and the motor is connected to a drive shaft (204a) upon which a first torque transfer member (204b) is fixed. The first torque transfer member (204b) is engageable with the mechanical linkage assembly (204e) to transfer a closing force to at least one of the applicator jaws (204f). Tag applicators having a fluid dispenser for spraying fluid in the vicinity of the applicator jaws, and/or a RFID arrangement for reading and tracking RFID tags are also provided. |
