PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a fixation temperature from becoming lower than a target fixation temperature to cause a fixation defect.SOLUTION: An irradiation part 511 irradiates recording paper P with measurement light L1 having a wavelength in a predetermined water absorption zone of absorbance characteristics C1. A signal processing part 540 calculates absorbance of the recording paper P using the measurement light L1 that a light reception part 521 receives. A moisture content calculation part 501 calculates a moisture content of the recording paper P from the calculated absorbance of the recording paper P. A vaporization heat calculation part 502 calculates the total amount of moisture included in the recording paper P using the calculated moisture content, and calculates vaporization heat of water included in the recording paper P. A heat absorption amount estimation part 503 estimates the amount of heat absorbed by the recording paper P from a fixation part 105 during fixation using the calculated vaporization heat. A fixation control part 504 calculates a set value for making the fixation part 105 generate heating value by the estimated heat absorption amount, and allows the fixation part 105 to perform fixation processing with the calculated set value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
