Screw compressor with coaxial bearing bores in unitary housing

A screw compressor comprising a male rotor 1 and a female rotor 2 enclosed in a housing 8 comprising an inlet port 7 on a suction side and an outlet port (not shown) on a discharge side of the compressor. The rotors comprise profile sections having shaft shoulders 4 enclosed in radial bearings 5, 9 and axially supported on the discharge side by axial bearings. The radial bearings are arranged in bores in the housing wherein the bores holding the radial bearings at opposite ends of the male rotor are mutually concentric or coaxial, the bores holding the radial bearings at opposite ends of the female rotor are mutually concentric and the axes defined by the female and male rotor bores are parallel to each other. The housing is of a one piece construction. The bearings may be supported in the bores by supporting flanges 10 at either end of the compressor.
