An expansion and contraction joint for a bridge is provided to prevent mixed aggregates from falling into the joint by filling joint gaps formed a bridge slab with auxiliary supports. An expansion and contraction joint for a bridge comprises a backup material(200), a sealing agent(300), a support steel plate(400), a triangular auxiliary support, a mixed aggregate(600), and a fixing pin(430). The backup material and the sealing agent are disposed to a joint gap(11) between bridge slabs(10). The support steel plate is installed on the top of the sealing agent continuously. The mixed aggregates are poured on the support steel plate. A fixing hole is bored at one side of the support steel plate. The fixing fin provided with an adapter(420) is driven into the fixing hole to be fixed to the bridge slab. The triangular auxiliary support is fit to a discontinous surface, or a space formed between the support steel plates installed continuously along the joint gap.
