Impact-resistant blends of vinyl aromatic resin and polyphenylene ether

High-impact rigid material comprises a resin comprising polyphenylene oxide and a vinylaromatic polymer, and an impact modifier. High-impact rigid material comprises: (A) 20-99% of a resin comprising polyphenylene oxide (PPO) and a vinylaromatic polymer; and (B) 1-80% of an impact modifier comprising an S-B-M block copolymer in which M is a block of a methyl methacrylate (MMA) homo- or copolymer having a MMA content of at least 50 wt.%, B is incompatible with resin (A) and with M and has a glass transition temperature (Tg) below the temperature of use of the rigid material, and S is compatible with resin (A), incompatible with blocks B and M and has a Tg or m.pt. above the Tg of block B.
