PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To relate to a process and apparatus for increasing the precision of optical measurement of oxygenation of blood in tissue and to provide an apparatus for measuring arterial oxygenation of blood in tissue at a certain application site with improved precision.SOLUTION: The optical properties of tissue are measured by determination of differential and total attenuations of light at a set of wavelengths. By choosing distinct wavelengths and using the measured attenuations, the influence of variables such as light scattering, absorption and other optical tissue properties is canceled out or minimized.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
