PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of suppressing an influence of a temporary reduction in speed of an intermediate transfer belt in association with the entry of a recording medium into a secondary transfer nip.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes a plurality of photoreceptors 2, an intermediate transfer belt 8 that comes into contact with the respective photoreceptors 2, and a secondary transfer member 12 that comes into contact with the intermediate transfer belt 8; and a part of the plurality of photoreceptors 2 and the intermediate transfer belt 8 can be separated from each other. When a small number of the photoreceptors 2 is in contact with the intermediate transfer belt 8, the image forming apparatus controls to decrease the linear velocity of the photoreceptors 2 in contact with the intermediate transfer belt 8, with respect to the intermediate transfer belt 8. |
