PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cavitation detecting method for appropriately detecting cavitation. SOLUTION: The cavitation detecting method detects cavitation occurring in target equipment with fluid. The method includes a step for acquiring vibration data of the target equipment, a step for obtaining a frequency spectrum by Fourier-converting the acquired vibration data, a step for obtaining intensity of the frequency spectrum for every P-divided frequency band of the frequency spectrum, a step for obtaining a degree of fluctuation of the vibration data fluctuating due to occurrence of the cavitation based on the frequency and intensity of the frequency spectrum corresponding to each of the P-divided frequency bands, a step for obtaining a degree of deviation of the degree of fluctuation from a reference amount, and a step for determining whether or not the cavitation occurs and a degree of the occurrence by comparing the degree of deviation with a threshold value.
