The present invention relates to a use for preventing or treating atherosclerosis which is a novel use of Ramalin and, more specifically, to a composition for preventing or treating atherosclerosis containing Ramalin which regulates inflammatory response involved in inducing atherosclerosis. The composition containing Ramalin as an active ingredient can be helpfully used in preventing or treating atherosclerosis by inhibiting the adhesion of mononuclear leukocytes in VSMC through inhibiting the expression of cell adhesion molecules induced by TNF-alpha.
